Problem with HTML Format Web-Based E-mail Hotmail Lotus Notes Netscape AOL and CompuServe All I see is a type of coding. All I see is a plain text document with no working links. I'm receiving blank e-mail messages. Unsubscribing I unsubscribed but keep receiving copies. How do I unsubscribe? I forget what e-mail address I subscribed. Common reasons for unsubscribe problems. Don't get angry--contact us. Subscribing What's the best Web-based e-mail program to use? I suddenly stopped receiving E-Word Today. I subscribed but I never received the devotional. General Problems The links to the Bible verses don't work. I don't have an Internet connection and can't access the verses. I'm receiving blank e-mail messages. I'm receiving the same Bible passage several days in a row. I'm receiving more than one copy of E-Word Today. I sometimes don't receive my devotional. General Questions Why aren't the Bible verses included in the devotional? Why do I need to confirm that I want to subscribe and unsubscribe? Why doesn't E-Word Today work with all e-mail programs? I don't see my problem listed here--can you help? Web-Based E-mail If you're using a Web-based e-mail program to receive E-Word Today, please see the chart below for the best program to use. Some Web-based programs do not read html codes correctly and others do not read html at all. Yahoo Web-based e-mail reads html newsletters (like E-Word Today) perfectly with both Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers. If you enjoy reading html e-zines and newsletters, Yahoo's top-rated Web-based e-mail is the best program to use.
*If links don't work, press F5 or click the browser's Refresh button. If you know of any other Web-based e-mail programs and would like to report how well they work with html codes, please contact us. Hotmail If the links don't work, click F5 (or click your browser's Refresh button). This should allow you to view an external link through Hotmail. Hotmail e-mail works well with Microsoft Internet Explorer, but it doesn't always read the html code correctly when used with Netscape Navigator. Solution: The best solutions are to: (a) open a free account with a different e-mail provider, such as Yahoo; or (b) use Internet Explorer when using your Hotmail account. Another solution is to locate the box at the top of each edition of E-Word Today (located below the "Thought for the Day") and click the Bible passage you'd like to read. These links will take you to an on-line version of E-Word Today; the pages should read perfectly in both Netscape and Internet Explorer. If your problem is not addressed here, please go to our complete list of Help Topics or contact us. To help you better, please describe the problem and include the name of the e-mail program (e.g., Eudora, Hotmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc.) and browser version (e.g., Netscape 4.07, Netscape 6, Internet Explorer 5.0, etc.) you're using. To find the browser version, click Help then click About. We'll do our best to resolve the problem. Click here to read more about Web-based e-mail. Lotus Notes Some Lotus Notes users (using Microsoft Internet Explorer as their browser) have reported receiving E-Word Today in an extra-large format that runs off the page. The program appears to be inserting "lots" of spaces between each word in the devotional. Solution: Two solutions have been discovered: 1. Mark the message for deletion, then open the devotional. 2. Double click the message. When prompted to Close or Save and File the message, choose Save and File. Either of these two solutions should result in a correct format. Please let us know if you've discovered a different solution (or have encountered a different problem). If your problem is not addressed here, please go to our complete list of Help Topics or contact us. To help you better, please describe the problem and include the name of the browser version (e.g., Netscape 4.07, Netscape 6, Internet Explorer 5.0, etc.) you're using. To find the browser version, click Help then click About. We'll do our best to resolve the problem. Click here to read more about Web-based e-mail. Netscape Netscape's Web-based e-mail does not read html code correctly regardless of the browser you use. Everything is functional (links works, etc.) but some of the formatting is not correct. Hotmail Web-based e-mail also does not read html code correctly when viewed through the Netscape browser. Solution: Open a free account with a different e-mail provider, such as Yahoo. Yahoo reads html coding perfectly with Netscape's browser. Another solution is to locate the box at the top of each edition of E-Word Today (located below the "Thought for the Day") and click the Bible passage you'd like to read. These links will take you to an on-line version of E-Word Today; the pages should read perfectly in Netscape. Click here to read more about Web-based e-mail. AOL and CompuServe Good news: AOL 6.0 now supports html e-mail. If you have an earlier version, consider installing AOL 6.0 to read E-Word Today (and other html e-zines) the way they're meant to be read. E-Word Today is an html newsletter, and earlier versions of AOL do not fully support html formats. If you have an earlier version installed, you'll notice at the beginning of the newsletter a message that asks you to click a link to read E-Word Today on the web. Click this link and you'll be taken to the current issue of E-Word Today on our web site. For best results, however, install AOL 6.0 to read E-Word Today. Attention: AOL and CompuServe Users: E-Word Today uses graphics in its html edition, so be sure to set your e-mail account to accept mail with embedded images. All I see is a type of coding. E-Word Today is an html newsletter. Some older e-mail programs, which can't read html, interpret and display the codes as plain text. Here are three solutions: 1. At the beginning of the newsletter, you may see a message that asks you to click a link to read E-Word Today on the Web. Click this link and you'll be taken to the current issue of E-Word Today on our Web site. 2. Open a free account with a Web-based e-mail provider. We recommend Yahoo, an excellent, free, Web-based e-mail service that displays everything in E-Word Today (and other html e-zines) perfectly in most browsers. 3. Subscribe to our "plain text" edition of E-Word Today. It includes actual Bible verses and does not use html coding. To subscribe, visit our Web site or click here to subscribe through your e-mail account. All I see is a plain text document with no working links. E-Word Today is an html newsletter. Some older e-mail programs automatically change html codes to plain text. (These programs also don't display the graphics used in E-Word Today.) Here are three solutions: 1. Upgrade your e-mail program to its current version, or install a new e-mail program. Most new e-mail software read and interpret html codes correctly. I'm receiving blank e-mail messages. E-Word Today is an html newsletter. Some older e-mail programs can't read the html codes and thus send a blank message or a message with a file attachment. Here are four possible solutions: 1. Upgrade your e-mail program to its current version, or install a new e-mail program. Most new e-mail software read and interpret html codes correctly. 2. If the blank message comes with a file attachment, open the file attachment. (It's good practice to scan every attachment with an anti-virus program just to be safe; however, E-Word Today is delivered through a mailing list server so viruses shouldn't be a problem.) 3. Open a free account with a Web-based e-mail provider. We recommend Yahoo, an excellent, free, Web-based e-mail service that displays everything in E-Word Today (and other html e-zines) perfectly in most browsers. 4. Subscribe to our "plain text" edition of E-Word Today. It includes actual Bible verses and does not use html coding. To subscribe, visit our Web site or click here to subscribe through your e-mail account. I unsubscribed but keep receiving copies. 1. You may have unsubscribed the wrong e-mail address. Your subscribed e-mail address is always located at the bottom of each edition of E-Word Today. Check the bottom of the E-Word Today devotional to see how your e-mail address was subscribed, then unsubscribe it at our Web site. 2. Some e-mail services automatically add an extra (but invisible) word to your e-mail address. For example, if you have an msn.com e-mail address, your e-mail address may be somebody@email.msn.com or somebody@msn.com. Check the bottom of the E-Word Today devotional to see how your e-mail address was subscribed, then unsubscribe it at our Web site. 3. Did you "reply" to the unsubscribe confirmation message? Your address won't be removed until you reply to this message. (It protects our subscribers in case someone enters their e-mail address in our unsubscribe request form without their permission.) How do I unsubscribe? To unsubscribe, send a blank e-mail message to ewordtoday-unsubscribe@ewordtoday.com for the html version, or ewordtext-unsubscribe@ewordtoday.com for the plain text version. You immediately will be sent an e-mail message to confirm that you want to unsubscribe. This confirmation to unsubscribe protects you in case someone entered your e-mail address in our unsubscribe request form without your permission. After you receive this message, click the Reply button, then click the Send button and your e-mail address will be removed from the E-Word Today mailing list. Please note that your address won't be removed until you reply to the unsubscribe confirmation message. I forget what e-mail address I subscribed. Your subscribed e-mail address is always located at the bottom of each edition of E-Word Today (above the copyright information). If you'd like to unsubscribe, be sure to unsubscribe the address listed there. Common reasons for unsubscribe problems. Most unsubscribe problems involve user errors. Here are the most common reasons why the automatic unsubscribe system hasn't worked: 1. (It protects our subscribers in case someone enters their e-mail address in our unsubscribe request form without their permission.) Dont' get angry--contact us! We understand that encountering a problem with unsubscribing can be frustrating. Please note that E-Word Today never keeps anyone subscribed against his or her will and does not engage in unethical subscription practices. Most unsubscribe problems involve user errors. If you've tried everything here and still cannot unsubscribe, please contact us. We always do our best to resolve the problem quickly and pleasantly. What's the best web-based e-mail program to use? We recommend Yahoo, an excellent, free, Web-based e-mail service that displays everything in E-Word Today (and other html e-zines) perfectly. Click here to read more about Web-based e-mail. I suddenly stopped receiving E-Word Today. 1. Many Web-based e-mail services require that you access your account on a regular basis. If you haven't accessed your e-mail account for awhile, it may have been cancelled. If it was cancelled, open another free web-based e-mail account. We recommend Yahoo, an excellent, free, Web-based e-mail service that displays everything in E-Word Today (and other html e-zines) perfectly. 2. Web-based e-mail services also set a limit on the amount of space your messages can use on their mail servers. For example, Yahoo permits 6MB of space while Hotmail allows 2MB. If your account has reached its storage limit, delete your old messages or copy them to your hard drive for future reference. 3. Try resubscribing on-line to E-Word Today. If our mail list server cannot successfully deliver e-mail to your account for several days, a "bounce" warning message will be sent. If this warning message cannot be delivered, your e-mail address will be deleted from the mailing list. Resubscribing will add your address to the mailing list, and even if your address still appears there, it won't hurt anything to subscribe again. 4. If you're an AOL or CompuServe user, be sure to set your e-mail account to accept mail with embedded images. E-Word Today uses graphics, so if your account is setup to not accept embedded images, you won't receive the devotional. If none of the above solutions work, please contact us and let us know which edition of E-Word Today you're no longer receiving (html, plain text, or large print) and your subscribed e-mail address. We'll do our best to resolve the problem quickly. Click here to read more about Web-based e-mail. I subscribed but I never received the devotional. 1. If you're an AOL or CompuServe user, be sure to set your e-mail account to accept mail with embedded images. E-Word Today uses graphics, so if your account is setup to not accept embedded images, you won't receive the devotional. 2. Did you "reply" to the subscribe confirmation message? Your address won't be added to the mailing list until you reply to this message. (It prevents someone from subscribing your e-mail address without your permission.) If neither of the above solutions work, please contact us and let us know which edition of E-Word Today you're not receiving (html, plain text, or large print) and your subscribed e-mail address. We'll do our best to resolve the problem quickly. Click here to read more about Web-based e-mail. The links to the Bible verses don't work. If you're using Hotmail and the links don't work, click F5 (or click your browser's Refresh button). This should allow you to view an external link through Hotmail. E-Word Today is an html newsletter. Some older e-mail programs and some Web-based e-mail may not read the links correctly. Here are three solutions: 1. Upgrade your e-mail program to its current version, or install a new e-mail program. 2. Open a free account with a Web-based e-mail provider. Subscribe to our "plain text" edition of E-Word Today. It includes actual Bible verses and does not use html coding. To subscribe, visit our Web site or click here to subscribe through your e-mail account. I don't have an Internet connection and can't access the verses. If you don't have an Internet connection, consider subscribing to the plain text edition of E-Word Today. It contains the actual Bible passage in the King James, New International, New King James, and New American Standard versions. The plain text version, however, is a condensed version and does not contain all the features included in the html edition, such as the devotional links. Click here to subscribe to the plain text edition. If you wish to continue reading scripture through E-Word Today, you can get free Internet access at the following sites: Bluelight.com (800) 355-6388 or pick up software at any K-Mart store. Address.com (323) 721-5282 or info@address.com Juno.com (Toll Free) 1-888-879-5866 or billing@support.juno.com E-Word Today is not affiliated with any of the companies listed above. Information is provided as a courtesy and is not an endorsement or recommendation. I'm receiving the same Bible passage several days in a row. This may happen if you're reading one of several translations, including the New English Translation, the New American (Catholic) Bible, or one of the audio Bibles. Most Bible versions used in E-Word Today can link to specific verses in a chapter. Some Bible versions, however, can only be linked to a complete chapter. For example, if the reading passage is Mark 7:1-23, links to the New English Translation, the New American (Catholic) Bible, and all audio Bibles will go to Mark 7:1-37 (the entire chapter). Suggestion: Consider reading only the verses listed for the day. If you're listening to one of the Bibles with audio, there's really no alternative since no audio Bibles currently offer partial chapter readings. While we realize the links to these versions stray from the typical E-Word Today linking format, we believe these translations should be available to our subscribers who enjoy reading and/or listening to them. I'm receiving more than one copy of E-Word Today. Receiving more than one copy of the same version typically occurs when people with more than one e-mail address inadvertently subscribe multiple e-mail addresses. To solve the problem, unsubscribe one of your e-mail addresses. If that doesn't solve the problem, please contact us. I sometimes don't receive my devotional. Web-based e-mail services will not deliver your e-mail if your maximum allotted storage space has been used. If you have a free Web-based e-mail service, delete some of your messages to free up some storage space in your account. Why aren't the Bible verses included in the devotional? Because of time and space constraints, the html version of E-Word Today does not include Bible verses in the devotional but instead provides Internet links to over 90 versions of the day's reading passage. If you want to receive the actual Bible passages in the e-mail message, consider subscribing to our plain text edition of E-Word Today. It contains the actual Bible passage in the King James, New International, New King James, and New American Standard versions. The plain text version, however, is a condensed version and does not contain all the features included in the html edition, such as the devotional links. Click here to subscribe to the plain text edition. If you don't have Internet access but wish to continue reading scripture through E-Word Today, you can get free Internet access at the following sites: Bluelight.com (800) 355-6388 or pick up software at any K-Mart store. Address.com (323) 721-5282 or info@address.com Juno.com (Toll Free) 1-888-879-5866 or billing@support.juno.com E-Word Today is not affiliated with any of the companies listed above. Information is provided as a courtesy and is not an endorsement or recommendation. Why do I need to confirm that I want to subscribe and unsubscribe? Most reputable e-zines require confirmations to make sure somebody else did not type your e-mail address in a subscription form (and thus subscribe you to or unsubscribe you from an e-zine without your permission). Although it adds an extra step to the process, we believe it prevents bad feelings from people who suddenly receive an e-zine in their e-mail without requesting it. Why doesn't E-Word Today work with all e-mail programs? E-mail software reads html differently (and some don't read it at all). We've spent countless hours trying to code our devotional to work with all e-mail software programs and Web-based e-mail, but nothing meets all of their collective criteria. Some of our subscribers also use older e-mail software and older browser versions which also read html differently. Your best assurance of getting E-Word Today to work is to (a) update your e-mail software, (b) update your browser, and/or (c) subscribe to a Web-based e-mail program that reads html codes correctly regardless of the browser used. Click here to read more about E-Word Today Web-based e-mail. I don't see my problem listed here--can you help? If your problem is not addressed here, contact us by e-mail. To help you better, please describe the problem and include the name of the e-mail program (e.g., Eudora, Hotmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc.) and browser (e.g., Netscape, Internet Explorer, Opera, etc.) you're using. If possible, include the browser version you're using (e.g., Netscape 4.07, Internet Explorer 5.5, Opera 5, etc.). To find the browser version, click Help then click About. |
